This thing’s mega good fun :) 130hp makes his a fair bit quicker at~300bhp, but it’s by no means slow :) wonderful car

My dad still has his X1/9 that he bought new in 74, still says it’s the most fun car you could drive.
Any other mods to handle all that extra hp? That’s about twice as much as stock isn’t it?

Ooh nice :) that’d be the 1300 wouldn’t it? Great revvy little engine in those :) I can see that suiting the chassis very well.
It was already ‘built’ when I got it so I’m finding bits and pieces that they’ve changed. It’s got Uno Turbo brakes and 185 tyres, but I think that’s all they’ve done.
I’ve got an oil cooler to go in which is needed, but then I think that’s it until I start trying to get some more power out of it ;)

Tuning for more power is over-rated. Put it on the cheapest ditchfinders you can find in that tyre size and you’ll shit yourself at supermarket carp ark speeds.
;)
In all seriousness, though, will it out-handle the 5 through tight enough twisties?

Haha tried the ditchfinder thing on my first BMW. Drove it into a barrier in an honest-to-god ‘watch this’ moment.
Also, more supermarkets should have carp arks. Spot of fishing on the way ;)
It was more planted through the corners, but I think that’s mostly tyre choice. I’ve got yokohamas of some sort and he’s got T1Rs which are great in summer but decidedly not great in the wet or cold.
Not enough to make up a 2x horsepower difference though. Not getting left behind, but not really gaining really

I’ll take the x1/9 over the miata any day ever.

You and me both, although the turbo 5 is a mega cool car :)
